Warming, Nourishing, Rooted In Indian Tradition
Orika Gond (Acacia Gum) is a premium Gond, also known as Acacia Gum. It is a natural edible gum obtained from the Babool (Acacia Arabica) tree, cherished for centuries in Indian tradition for its restorative properties. Warming in nature, it has long been used in Indian winter foods. It is valued for its energy-boosting qualities, strengthening the body, supporting joint health, and maintaining warmth through the cold season.
What Makes Gond Different From Gond Katira
Not all gond is the same. Edible Gond (Acacia Gum) is warming in nature, light brown to amber in colour, and turns soft when roasted, making it ideal for winter foods, gond ke ladoo, panjiri, and cold-weather preparations.
Gond Katira, by contrast, is cooling in nature, white or translucent in colour, and turns into a jelly when soaked, making it ideal for summer drinks, falooda, and sherbets. The two are distinct ingredients with opposite seasonal uses.
How To Use
Soak in water for a few hours before use. Once softened, it can be roasted and used in ladoos, panjiri, and winter sweets, or mixed into vegetable curries.
